Dirk Edelhoff (* 17th October 1963 in Iserlohn ) is a German jazz - and rock - guitarist .

Musical education and career

The German musician Dirk Edelhoff from Iserlohn ( North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a pop , rock and jazz guitarist. In 1980 and 1981 he was two-time first prize winner of the state competition Jugend jazzt in North Rhine-Westphalia. Dirk Edelhoff had guitar lessons with Eddy Marron , the lecturer for jazz guitar at the Cologne University of Music , and completed his pre-professional training for music (VFA) at the Dortmund Music School . Between 1983 and 1985 he was a participant in the jazz seminars at the Remscheid Academy .

Dirk Edelhoff has been a freelance musician since 1986 and works as a studio guitarist for various recording studios and music productions. In 1992 he was a lecturer in electric guitar at the Munich Guitar Institute (MGI) in Cologne. In 1999 he published the column Guitar Techniques as an author for the music magazine Guitar & Bass . He is also active as a composer for popular, advertising and film music.

Since 2000 he has been running his own guitar school in Schwerte (North Rhine-Westphalia) and is involved in various bands and music projects. It has thus realized its career aspiration from an early age.

reception

gitarrissimo describes Dirk Edelhoff as the "epitome of versatility" and his playing as "technically highly qualified". BackstagePro counts him "one of the most versatile and accomplished guitarists in Germany". RockTimes sees him as an all-rounder and genre hopper par excellence . The Ruhrtal Journal calls him "swords noble guitarist".

His appearances with the bands What Ever Works (2015-2017) and Go Music (since 2014) are regularly enthusiastically received.

He himself wants to pass on his knowledge and skills not only to advanced learners, but also to motivated beginners.
