Dirk R. Düwel

Dirk R. Düwel (born June 1, 1941 in the German Reich ) is a German television manager and television producer .

Live and act

Düwel comes from a family of journalists and, as a young man, applied to this production facility as a result of an advertisement from Studio Hamburg , according to which young people were wanted for the production area. Four of the 400 applicants were accepted, including Düwel. In 1965 he began his work as an apprentice there and climbed the career ladder to an authorized signatory over the next 15 years . During this time, Düwel was also busy making ambitious productions such as Peter Zadek's Ice Age with OE Hasse and Eberhard Fechner's series Tadellöser & Wolff . At the beginning of the 1980s, Dirk Düwel changed to the management of the Polyphon Film- und Fernsehgesellschaft. Here he began to work as a producer every now and then, for example in 1984 as general manager of the large-scale television series Jenseits der Morgenröte with the British Julian Glover in the lead role.

Immediately afterwards, Studio Hamburg boss Gyula Trebitsch brought him back to build the Trebitsch Holding with him as partner and managing director and with his daughter Katharina Trebitsch . TV highlights such as Egon Monk's Die Bertinis and the ZDF family series These Drombuschs were created under Düwel's direction . In 1990, Düwel sold his holding shares and returned to Studio Hamburg as managing partner. Under his leadership, this production facility began to cooperate with private television broadcasters and, with sales of around DM 100 million, moved up into the same television production league as Kirch, Bertelsmann, Bavaria and Endemol. Under Düwel's leadership, long-running TVs such as Großstadtrevier , Die Männer vom K3 , Doppelter Einsatz , Tatort and Sesame Street , but also various individual productions such as The End of a Passion, The Wedding Gift, The Only Chance, No Way Back, The Bastard, Last Will, Amok and The shaman . From time to time in the 1990s, Dirk Düwel also produced films such as The Serbian Girl , Talk of the City and A Song of Love and Death - Gloomy Sunday . In his long studio Hamburg career, Düwel cooperated with established old stars such as Heinz Rühmann , Peter Ustinov and Hannelore Elsner as well as with young talents.
