Dirk Raphael

Dirk Hans Raphael (born November 27, 1953 in Dortmund ) is a retired German doctor and medical officer in the Bundeswehr with the rank of general staff doctor . Raphael's last assignment was from January 1, 2013 to November 24, 2016 as the commander of the newly established Regional Medical Support Command in Diez .

Life

Raphael attended the Lessing School in Bochum from 1964 to 1972 and then began his military service in Fürstenfeldbruck as an officer candidate in the Air Force , but then decided to switch to the career of medical officer candidates . He studied human medicine from 1973 to 1979 at the University of Mainz and completed his internship at the German Armed Forces Central Hospital in Koblenz . In 1981 he was promoted to senior staff physician in use as an aviator with Fighter Bomber Wing 31 until 1982 . After further training in internal medicine at the Bundeswehr Medical Center (today specialist medical center) in Bonn , he became an aviator physician at the Tri-National Tornado Training Establishment (TTTE) in Cottesmore , England , where he was entrusted with the care of German soldiers. In 1985 he was promoted to chief medical officer and in 1986 became the squadron chief of the air force medical squadron of Fighter Bomber Wing 41 in Husum . In 1993 he was head of department in the personnel office of the Bundeswehr and in the same year became a personnel officer in the personnel department of the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg). In 1996 he was promoted to senior physician and transferred to the post of head of the Bundeswehr Medical Center, and one year later he became head of the personnel department. During his follow-up assignments as head of unit in the management staff of the medical service , he took part in the ISAF mission in Kabul . When he was transferred to the post of commander of the Bundeswehr Medical Academy in 2006, he was promoted to doctor general. From 2008 to September 30, 2012 he was Head of Staff Department II in the BMVg. For three months from October 1, 2012, he was Department Head B in the Bundeswehr Medical Service Command .

From January 2013 to November 2016, Raphael was Commander in the Regional Medical Support Command. He was promoted to General Staff Doctor on March 27, 2013. On November 24, 2016, he handed over his post to General Doctor Armin Kalinowski and retired after 44 years of service in the German Armed Forces.
