Dishwalla is an alternative rock group from Santa Barbara , California. The band's name comes from the Indian name for a person who illegally uses satellite signals and then distributes them.
history
Dishwalla was founded in 1994 by JR Richards, Rodney Browning, George Pendergast and Scot Alexander. Their first single, Counting Blue Cars , was released in 1996 and quickly climbed the charts. As a result, they quickly achieved a high level of popularity and their album Pet Your Friends sold over a million times.
The next album And You Think You Know What Life's About couldn't keep up with the high expectations and it turned into a flop. Part of the blame was placed on the record label at the time , and after the departure of drummer George Pendergast, Dishwalla switched to the Immergent label.
Dishwalla , the fifth album, was released under a new record label. The band named the album after themselves as they viewed it as a new beginning. In a 2006 interview, JR Richards announced that the band was taking a break.
On May 26th, 2009, JR Richard's solo album "A Beautiful End" was released.
