Distorted ( English for "distorted, deformed") is an Israeli metal band from Bat Jam . The group's music is a mix of progressive , symphonic and death metal . Overall, it could best be described as Dark Metal .

history

Distorted was founded in 1996 by school friends. According to their own statement, the band wants to refine the brutal side of metal with elements of oriental music , to bring a refreshing trend into the scene of metal bands with female singers and to give a perfect example of the cliché " Beauty and the Beast ".

After two demo recordings , an EP and a single , the band went to the Swedish studio "Underground" in 2005 and recorded their first album, Memorial . The producer Pelle Seather was already known from bands like Draconian , Madder Mortem , Carnal Forge and Diablo Swing Orchestra and the album also received good reviews internationally.

After the first album, the band began a long series of tours. They played with Edguy , Megadeth , Destruction , Orphaned Land , Epica , Therion , Leaves' Eyes , Draconian and Sirenia and performed at the prestigious Metal Female Voices Fest . Together with Aborted a tour through Belgium , France and the Netherlands was then completed. The success so far led to a contract for international distribution with the English music label Candlelight Records .

Voices from Within was again produced in the "Underground" studio by Pelle Seather. In contrast to the first album, a number of befriended guest musicians took part this time. In terms of vocals, these were Thomas Vikström (Therion), Lisa Johansson (Draconian) and Sven de Caluwe (Aborted), on guitar Henrik Bastrup Jacobsen (Koldborn, formerly Hatesphere ).

In early 2009, Miri Milman left the band. The singer Michal Akrabi, a friend of hers, stepped in for the already booked performances, but afterwards she went to England to continue her education and her own career.

The new singer Dor Mazor occurred on June 3, 2010 for the first time with Distorted on when the band as a support act for the Finnish group Swallow the Sun played.
