The district of Huacllán is located in the province of Aija in the Ancash region in western Peru . The district was established on March 5, 1936. It has an area of ​​39.9 km². The 2017 census counted 388 residents. In 1993 the population was 468, in 2007 it was 556. The district administration is located in the 2986  m high village of Huacllán with 227 inhabitants (as of 2017). Huacllán is located 7.5 km west-southwest of the provincial capital Aija .

Geographical location

The district of Huacllán is located in the west of the Cordillera Negra, centrally in the province of Aija. The Río Aija, the upper reaches of the Río Huarmey , flows along the southern district boundary to the west and drains the area.

The district of Huacllán borders in the west on the district Coris , in the northeast on the district Aija and in the south on the district Succha .
