The Pisco District is located in the Pisco Province of the Ica Region in southwest Peru . The district founded on June 22, 1825 has an area of 24.92 km². At the 2017 census, there were 67,467 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 52,019, in 2007 54,997. The district administration is located in the 27 m high provincial capital Pisco with 61,518 inhabitants (as of 2017).
Geographical location
The Pisco District is located on the Pacific coast in the northwest of the Pisco Province. The course of the Río Pisco forms the northern boundary of the district. The district has a 4.5 km long coastline and extends up to 7.6 km inland. Irrigated agriculture is practiced in the north. In the southwest is the urban area of the district. The new road layout of the national road 1S ( Panamericana ) crosses the east of the district.
The Pisco district borders on the San Clemente district in the north, the Túpac Amaru Inca district in the east and the San Andrés district in the south and southwest .
