The Humay district is located in the Pisco Province in the Ica region in southwest Peru . The district founded on June 25, 1855 has an area of 1112.96 km². At the 2017 census, 5,408 people lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 2041, in 2007 it was 1758. The district administration is located in the 430 m high village of Humay with 769 inhabitants (as of 2017). Humay is located about 35 km east of the provincial capital Pisco on the north bank of the River Pisco . 6.5 km east of Humay is the ruined city of Tambo Colorado .
Geographical location
The Humay District is located in the central east of the Pisco Province. It extends from the coastal plain in the west to the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the east. The Río Pisco River flows through the district in a westerly direction.
The Humay district borders in the west on the districts San Andrés and Túpac Amaru Inca , in the northwest on the districts San Clemente and Independencia , in the north on the district El Carmen , in the northeast on the district Huancano , in the southeast on the district San José de los Molinos ( province of Ica ) and in the south to the district of Salas (also in the province of Ica).
