The Thaba-Tseka district is one of ten districts (districts) of the Kingdom of Lesotho in southern Africa .
geography
The district is located in the east of Lesotho. It is named after its capital, Thaba-Tseka .
Its size is 4270 km², its population 135,347 (as of 2016). This makes it one of the districts with a low population density.
The Thaba-Tseka district is located in the center of the dam system of the Lesotho Highland Water Project . This major project has significantly improved the district's infrastructure .

The Thaba-Tseka district is located in the Maloti Mountains of Lesotho. So he has no share in the Lowlands in western Lesotho. The district is criss-crossed by several mountain ranges up to 3000 meters high.
The district is bordered by the Leribe District to the north, the Mokhotlong District to the northeast, the Qacha's Nek District to the south, the Mohale's Hoek District to the southwest , and the Maseru District to the west . In the east, the Thaba-Tseka district borders the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal .

history
The Thaba-Tseka district was only created in the early 1980s as the youngest district in Lesotho from areas of other districts. The goal was a better development of the mountain region.
