International partnerships
Since 2013, the Leribe district has maintained a climate partnership with the German city of Geestland as part of an Engagement Global initiative . A connection has existed for many years via a Lesotho group in the Geestland district of Langen and through the partnership between two primary schools in the two municipalities. After several mutual visits by the climate partnership delegations, bilateral climate protection measures are planned. For example, through afforestation and the construction of systems to slow down the draining water, the soil erosion promoted by the heavy rainfall in the rainy season in the Leribe district is to be reduced. In addition, orchards will be laid out at the partner schools at the same time in 2015 . Furthermore, a project for an improved waste management is being worked on.
