Dmitri Igorewitsch Malgin ( Kazakh Дмитрий Игоревич Мальгин ; born July 28, 1987 in Ust-Kamenogorsk ) is a Kazakh ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with HK Almaty in the Kazakh championship since 2019 .
Career
Dmitri Malgin began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior division of Kaszink-Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk , for whose men's team he played in the Kazakh championship as a 16-year-old and won the Kazakh championship title in his debut season . In the following years he played the club mainly in the Wysschaya League and the Pervaya League , the second and third Russian league. During the 2009/10 season he joined the HK Ertis Pavlodar , for whom he again guarded the gate in the Kazakh championship. In 2012 he was runner-up in Kazakhstan with Ertis and champion the following year. In both seasons he was voted the best goalkeeper in the league, and in 2012 he had the best catch rate in the league with 95.6%. In 2013 he moved to Barys Astana , who mostly used him at Nomad Astana , the club's second team that competes in the Kazakh championship. However, he was also used twice in the KHL team in the 2013/14 season . The following season he started at HK Arlan Kökschetau in the Kazakh championship, but returned to Astana in November. In addition to playing for Nomad, he played once again for Barys in the KHL, and he was once on loan from HK Saryarka Karaganda in the Wysschaja Hockey League in the box. In 2017 he became a Kazakh champion with Nomad. In the 2017/18 season he played two more KHL games for Barys, but otherwise continued to play for Nomad.
He has been playing for HK Almaty since 2019 .
International
For Kazakhstan Malgin took part in the junior division of the U20 World Cup in Division I in 2007 , but was not used. At the 2013 Winter Universiade in Trentino , Italy , he worked in the Kazakh student selection, which won the silver medal behind Canada.
He was part of the country’s men's squad for the first time at the Division I World Cup in 2015 , when he was also unable to play. At the 2016 World Cup , he made his first appearance in the top division when he was substituted on for the last two thirds in the final game against Denmark . He was also used in the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Pyeongchang 2018 . At the 2018 World Cup , he was again part of the Kazakh squad in Division I, but was once again not used.
