The Dnipropetrovsk clan ( Ukrainian клан Дніпропетровський , Russian Днепропетровский клан ) is a political-economic political patronage network of oligarchs and top officials of the Ukrainian city of Dnipro (2016 Dnipropetrovsk ).

In the post-Soviet space, “Klan” has the meaning of an informal network in politics and business and does not indicate any kind of kinship relationship, one supports each other , but there are always disputes and occasional hostilities between the individual groups.

history

The name “Klan” goes back to the party leader of the CPSU , head of state of the Soviet Union and four-time hero of the Soviet Union Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev . He had given his favorite Vladimir Vasilyevich Shcherbitzky important posts in the Soviet Union, among other things, he was second, then first observer secretary of the CPSU in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast , candidate of the Politburo and later a full member of the Politburo and Prime Minister from 1961 to 1963 and from 1965 to 1972 the Ukrainian SSR . The Dnipropetrovsk clan consists of the five groups Privat, Pinchuk, Derkach, Kuchma and Tymoshenko.

Private group

The Privat Group consists of the former governor of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and oligarch Ihor Kolomoysky and co-founder Hennadij Boholjubow , who own PrivatBank , the largest non-public bank in Ukraine.
