Doc West - Nobody Strikes Back (original title: Triggerman ) is the second of the two Doc West films by director and actor Terence Hill from 2009. The film was first released in German in February 2012.

content

The film follows the first part with the plot . Doc West is called to see a pregnant woman who is about to die from convulsions during the birth of her child. He saves them by getting medicinal herbs from an Indian tribe, which relieve the cramps. Since it became clear once again how urgently Holy Sand needs a hospital, West Sheriff Baseheart suggests that the necessary money be raised through a poker tournament . The plan is for Doc West to use the prize money to finance the hospital.

However, the high prize money also attracts some professional poker players and shady characters. One man, whom everyone calls the Dutchman, is particularly negative. Out of anger at a critical newspaper article by a reporter, he stabs his right eye out. When the reporter announced that he would write another critical article despite this incident, the Dutchman had him shot by one of his accomplices. An old friend of Sheriff Baseheart takes part in the tournament, but with a heavy heart she has to exclude her from the tournament due to card games. As a result, the Dutchman moves into the final early. Since he still has an old bill with Doc West, the Dutchman definitely wants to play against him in the final. In order not to leave anything to chance, he arranges a robbery for Doc's last opponent, in which, however, unlike planned, he is only slightly injured. In an exciting poker game, however, West wins and thus also moves into the final.

In order to put Doc West under pressure in the final, the Dutchman has his girlfriend kidnap the teacher and makes this clear by placing her chain conspicuously on the poker table. Doc then deliberately loses a few hands . In the meantime, however, the young Silver succeeds in a brave move to free the teacher. At the last second, the two arrive in the saloon . With his last chips, West can turn the tide again and finally wins the prize money. The Dutchman is arrested by Baseheart for his crimes. In the final scene, in which Doc West wants to leave Holy Sand, Silver brings him a letter from his protégé Estrella, who announces that she will visit him in Holy Sand. So West is returning to Holy Sand again.

background

Contrary to what the title suggests, this film, produced for Italian television, is not a sequel to Mein Name ist Nobody .

Reviews

The film portal Video.de finds, "the fan base can be satisfied with the comeback" of Terence Hill, "his blue eyes are still as bold as in his prime that one likes to watch the film take a break or two".

On the other hand, there was harsh criticism on Moviemaze.de: "Doc West - Nobody strikes back [...] dragging himself into the saving credits for 90 minutes without any humor, tension or memorable moments."
