Dogtown (alternative title on TV: Dogtown - City of Lies ) is an American film drama from the year 1997 . Directed by George Hickenlooper , who also wrote the script.

action

Philip Van Horn has been trying unsuccessfully to pursue an acting career in Hollywood for several years . He travels back to his hometown, where he is considered someone who has made it . Dorothy Sternen, who Van Horn fell in love with as a schoolboy, has attempted suicide and works in a hair salon. She is impressed by Van Horn's alleged professional successes. Meanwhile, Van Horn's mother Rose takes care of his sister Sara, who causes her many problems.

The lexicon of international film wrote that the “little” film captivates “with its excellent photography” , but that it “can only win over a minority audience” .
