Doina Fischer , born as Doina Fodor , (born August 11, 1969 in Bucharest , Romania ) is an Austrian conductor , composer and violinist of Romanian origin.

life and career

Fischer began playing the violin at the age of six and won several violin competitions as a child. From 1981 she played as a soloist, where she performed violin concertos by Antonio Vivaldi and Johann Sebastian Bach, among others .

From 1988 to 1990 she studied violin at the Music Academy in Bucharest, until 1994 at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, and from 1995 to 1996 at the Graz University of Music . Between 1991 and 1993 she played the first violin with the ORF Symphony Orchestra . Until 1994, Fischer was concertmaster at the Vienna Chamber Opera and concertmaster at the Neue Oper Austria, from 1996 to 1997 then second concertmaster at the Bruckner Orchestra Linz .

From 1998 Donia Fischer only appeared as a soloist and since then has performed around 1500. In 1998 she founded the Wiener Flair concert ensemble , with which she performed upscale salon music. In the subsequent period founded Fischer more music ensembles: the Ball Orchestra Viennese flair , the formation Doina Fischer & Ensemble , the String Quartet Doina Fischer and Schrammeln Viennese flair . With salon music, she also appeared regularly as a violinist at concerts in Viennese coffee houses , including in September 2001 in Café Dommayer , alongside artists such as Brigitte Neumeister , Adi Hirschal and Gerald Pichowetz , as part of the cultural autumn of the Vienna Volksbildungswerk.

Fischer gave concerts in the context of the Wiener Festwochen , in the Wiener Stadthalle ("Concert for Europe"), at Schwarzau Castle (since 2003), at Rothschild Castle in Reichenau an der Rax (2005–2008), at Wilhelminenberg Castle (2003) , at Stift Seitenstetten (2003) and as part of tours to Japan , China and South America . She played the New Years Concerts in Bruck an der Leitha several times .

In November 2001 Fischer was in the Josefstadt district museum with Viennese music and Viennese songs in the program At the beginning, the Kuchlkredenz could be heard as part of a reading by the Austrian narrator and poet Trude Marzik . In September 2008 she performed on the Loreley open-air stage as part of the Undisputed Peace Festival 2008.

She is the winner of several violin competitions. She received, among other things, 1st prize at the international youth music competition for violinists and chamber musicians "Città di Stresa" ( Concorso internazionale di musica "Città di Stresa" ) in Italy (1983) and 1st prize at the Ciprian Porumbescu National Music Competition in Romania (1984). In 1985 she was a finalist at the Yehudi-Menuhin competition in Folkestone (England).

Doina Fischer has been married since 1991 and is the mother of five children.
