Gerald Pichowetz (born August 1, 1964 ) is an Austrian film and theater actor .

Life

At the age of 17, Pichowetz attended the Krauss drama school in Vienna and took acting lessons using the Stanislawskij method from Lola Braxton . He then founded the theater "Bühne 21", which he ran with great success for 20 years; On October 10, 2001, he opened the Gloria Theater in Vienna, Prager Strasse 9, which he has been director ever since. The program includes comedies, tabloids, singspiele, musicals and operettas. In autumn 2016 the Gloria Theater celebrated its 15th anniversary.

Pichowetz is a member of the SPÖ and supported Eugen Freund in the election campaign.

He is in a relationship with his colleague Angelika Zoidl , who has participated in many productions of the Gloria Theater , and has two sons.

In October 2016 it was announced that Gerald Pichowetz will lead the Mörbisch Seefestspiele as artistic director from the 2018 season. On May 31, 2017, it was announced at a press conference that they had changed their mind and that Pichowetz was not hiring as artistic director. Instead, Peter Edelmann was introduced as the future director of the Mörbisch Seefestspiele.
