Stephan Eusemann (born October 21, 1924 in Bergrheinfeld ; † January 27, 2005 in Nuremberg ) was a German textile artist and designer . He was professor of textile art and surface design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg .

Life

After his military service in World War II, Eusemann did an architecture internship in 1945 and then studied at the universities of Erlangen , Bamberg and Munich until 1952 . He then continued his studies at the art academies in Stuttgart and Munich . From 1952 to 1960 he built up the newly founded specialist class for textile design of the State Higher Technical College for the Textile Industry in Münchberg (later a subsidiary of the Coburg University of Applied Sciences , since 2000 part of the Hof University of Applied Sciences, today the department of textile technology and design at the Hof University of Applied Sciences ) and took over its management . In 1960 Eusemann received a full professorship for textile art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg. Eusemann's successor in this chair was Hanns Herpich from 1990 .

Eusemann was also President of the International Association of Color Consultants (IACC), a member of the DIN Color Standards Committee (FNF / DIN) and a member of the board of the German Color Center in Berlin.

In the 1950s and 1960s, Eusemann designed décors for the Arzberg porcelain factory (for example, the 3040 “Kolorit” décor for Form 2025, a multi-colored dot and line décor) and porcelain vases. Some of the designs for Hutschenreuther received an iF Product Design Award .

In the field of textile art, Eusemann dealt with free textile art as well as industrial system design. In the mid-1970s, for example, he designed geometric, endlessly replicable patterns and surface textures for "tiles" for decorative use in interiors on textiles, artificial stone (resin), PVC , ceramics or other materials. They have been internationally patented by Dynamit Nobel AG. Textile furnishings designed by Eusemann can be found, for example, in the Bavarian Ministry of Culture in Munich, in the University Church of Erlangen , the University of Regensburg , the Deutsche Bank in Nuremberg or in the Weißenburg District Office . Before 1980, he designed at least one collection for a manufacturer of lamellar curtains for sun protection on windows (Karl H. Blöcker, Bremen).

Another focus of Eusemann was color theory and its practical application in architecture and interior design, especially in wall design. In the 1970s he developed and published the EuColor 840 color system , which was patented in a modified form as ispo EuColor by the facade paint manufacturer ispo GmbH from Kriftel (a subsidiary of Dyckerhoff AG , taken over by Sto AG in 2002), and patented as a practical guide to The use of paint on interior walls and facades was introduced in the painting trade.

Eusemann's works have been shown at several international exhibitions.
