The eighth season of Dancing Stars was broadcast on ORF one Friday from March 1 to May 24, 2013 . Mirjam Weichselbraun and Klaus Eberhartinger hosted the show . The motto of this year's season was "Dance with us".
ORF entertainment director Edgar Böhm stated on May 24, 2013 that the ninth season is already being planned, which will go on air in 2014. A total of around 4.27 million viewers followed the eighth season.
Moderation and jury
Since the sixth season, Mirjam Weichselbraun has been moderating in the ballroom and Klaus Eberhartinger backstage.
The four-person jury consisted of the dance school owner Thomas Schäfer-Elmayer , the dance sports trainer and international judge Nicole Burns-Hansen , the international judge Hannes Nedbal and the professional dancer Balázs Ekker .

Changes
This season there have been some changes compared to previous years:
12 programs instead of 10
After the winner was determined in ten programs in the previous seasons, there were twelve programs in this season. Therefore, neither of the pairs was eliminated in the two preliminary rounds. Nevertheless, the audience was already able to call via televoting and the jury also awarded points that were counted for the third broadcast.
It was only from the third broadcast onwards that the jury and audience points were added and the couple with the fewest overall votes was eliminated.
2 new dances
A total of 15 dances had to be learned, including two new ones - in the 10th program of the Discofox and in the 11th (semifinals) the Jitterbug .
New music
A total of 107 songs were danced this season, so 40 songs were completely rehearsed, which could be found in all dances.
No Easter break
In this season there was not - as usual - an Easter break, but it went on without interruption. However, the Easter program was broadcast on a Saturday and not on a Friday.
final
There were also some changes in the final. The dancers had to dance the following three dances:
- The couple's favorite dance
- The dance that was rated worst by the jury and
- The show dance in which the couples had a free choice

3rd dance week
From this week onwards, all couples were rated, one couple had to leave the show in this program. What was new was that six different dances are shown in one evening. This continued until the final.
Rudi & Babsi did not dance on this show because Roubinek suffered from a flu. According to the rules of the BBC, the couple was allowed to dance again in the next show .
Katharina Gutensohn and Christoph Santner were the first couple to leave the show.

In the final, the finalists danced their favorite dance, the dance with the worst jury rating and a show dance.
Lukas Perman and Kathrin Menzinger could not convince the audience after the first two dances and took third place, Marjan Shaki and Willi Gabalier took second place and Rainer Schönfelder and Manuela Stöckl won the title.
Perman and Menzinger showed their show dance out of competition in the last part of the show.
On average, 804,000 viewers were interested in the presentation of the first two dances, the first decision saw an average of 983,000, and the decisive vote saw 997,000 viewers (40 percent market share).
