The eleventh season of Dancing Stars started on March 31, 2017 on ORF Eins on Friday . Mirjam Weichselbraun and Klaus Eberhartinger conducted the show , accompanied by the “Dancing Stars” orchestra under the musical direction of Thomas Rabitsch , conducted by Herbert Pichler. Alexandra Kloiber and Gregor Waltl accompanied the event as blind commentators in order to offer an acoustic description of the picture for blind and visually impaired people . From April 16, a weekly summary entitled Dancing Stars Extra was shown on the day after the broadcast of the live show in the evening program.
On January 3, 2017, the ORF announced the preliminary complete list of celebrities. The announced actor Martin Leutgeb injured himself during the press conference for the presentation of the participants and had to stop training. Only one day later, Volker Piesczek was introduced as a replacement candidate. Leutgeb then took part in the 12th season (2019) - together with Manuela Stöckl - where the couple dropped out on the third show.
Monica Weinzettl retired on May 10, 2017 due to health reasons. Therefore, nobody had to leave the show on the seventh show.
Moderation and jury
Since the sixth season, Mirjam Weichselbraun has been moderating in the ballroom and Klaus Eberhartinger backstage.
The four-person jury consisted of the sports dance trainer Dirk Heidemann , the dance sports trainer and international judge Nicole Hansen , the prima ballerina Karina Sarkissova and the professional dancer Balázs Ekker .

In the first week of dance, only the prominent men were judged, while the prominent women only had to show a group dance to Shut Up and Dance .
No couple have had to leave the show on this show. The purpose of the broadcast was to introduce the couple to the audience.

The musician and singer Norbert Schneider and the professional dancer Conny Kreuter had to leave the show as the second couple of the season. In the broadcast Nathan Trent presented Running On Air , the Austrian contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev.

In the sixth week of dance, each couple had a solo dance, after which all couples danced a Lindy Hop group dance, as a so-called “dance marathon”. Here too, unlike in the last few weeks, points were awarded. The ex-soccer player and today's coach Walter Schachner and the professional dancer Lenka Pohoralek had to leave the show as the fourth couple of the season.

9th dance week
In the ninth dance week, each couple had two solo dances. First of all, each couple danced a dance (tango, jive, or samba). Afterwards each couple danced a Disco Fox , whereby the respective couple only learned the dance music shortly before the performance and had to rehearse a choreography in a short time. Former ski racer Niki Hosp and professional dancer Willi Gabalier had to leave the show as the seventh couple of the season.

In the final broadcast, the remaining three dance couples showed a salsa and, for the first time in the show, a contemporary . A first voting then took place. After a performance by Helene Fischer , Martin Ferdiny with Maria Santner and Thomas Kraml with Ana Milva Gomez performed a show dance to a specially arranged medley. During the final voting, Riem Higazi and Dimitar Stefanin showed their show dance out of competition. Finally, Martin Ferdiny and Maria Santner won.
