Thomas Kraml (born September 27, 1981 in Vienna ) is an Austrian entrepreneur, dancer and choreographer. He became known to the public through his years of participation in the ORF broadcast format Dancing Stars .

Life

After completing his Matura, Thomas Kraml began his studies at the Vienna University of Economics and Business , which he completed with a master's degree. In addition to his business studies, Kraml attended the Vienna Dance Teaching Academy from 2007 and graduated in 2010 as a state-certified dance master. In 2010 he founded "Thomas Kraml GmbH". The company, which was initially run as a small dance school , is now one of the largest dance companies in Austria with several locations and over 3000 dance students per week. In 2018, Kraml opened Vienna's only ballroom that is always full . Dance events of all kinds take place there with regular live music. In addition to his entrepreneurial activities, Kraml has been teaching general business administration at the Vienna Economic Development Institute (WIFI) since 2016 .

Kraml married Bianca Kanotscher from Braunau on July 7th, 2012 in the Schottenkirche in Vienna .

Dance sport

Kraml is the Austrian state champion in formation dance and Austrian professional master in Latin American dances. Furthermore, together with his dance partner, Lenka Pohoralek , he was Austria's representative at WDC World and European Championships for several years. The greatest successes include reaching the quarter-finals of the WDC ( World Dance Council ) European Championship in Moscow and reaching the semi-finals of the WDC Grandslam in Rimini 2010. Since 2012, Kraml has been an international judge as a so-called "Fully Qualified Couple" and is therefore entitled to score World and European championships.

Dancing stars

Kraml has been an integral part of the ORF broadcast format Dancing Stars since 2012 and has participated in over 50 live broadcasts. With over 70 dances, Kraml was seen more often on the floor than any other of the 35 professional dancers on the dance show.

In the 11th season Ana Milva Gomez and Thomas Kraml were the only couple so far to receive the maximum number of 40 points within a program twice.

Kraml has been the chief choreographer for the show since season 12, 2020.

Film and television (selection)

Since his first engagement (2012) as a professional dancer in the ORF broadcast format Dancingstars, Kraml has been known to a wide television audience. In 2014 he got his first acting role in the Austrian film production "Rise Up and Dance". The film "Ballavita", in which Kraml played his first leading role, was nominated in the category "Best VR Film" at the 75th Venice International Film Festival . In "Best Christmas Ball" Kraml can be seen in his first English-language role.
