Claudia Reiterer (born July 5, 1968 in Vienna ) is an Austrian television presenter , journalist and book author . Since 2017 she has moderated the discussion program In the Center . From 2007 to 2016, she alternated with Martina Rupp to present the service magazine Today .

education

Reiterer grew up as a foster child in Sankt Johann in der Haide in Styria. In Graz she first trained as a nurse and from 1993 to 1995 completed a journalism course (media studies course) at the University of Graz . She later studied pedagogy in combination with psychology and social medicine (Magistra 2002). Since 2011 she has been a member of the presidium of the alumni of the Karl Franzens University Graz .

Professional background

In 1995 she became chief reporter at the private radio antenna Steiermark . From 1998 she worked for the ORF (Landesstudio Steiermark). In 1999 she became the internal political journalist for ZiB 1. Reiterer moderated the ORF programs Betrifft (2001/02), Pressestunde (2002–2007), Report (2002–2004), Hohes Haus (2006/07) and today specifically (2007 -2016). Since January 2017 she has been moderating the program Im Zentrum, succeeding Ingrid Thurnher .

From September 2017 to October 2017, she alternated with Tarek Leitner to moderate the ORF TV confrontations with the top candidates of the parliamentary parties, as part of the reporting in the run-up to the National Council election in Austria 2017 .

From February 2018 Claudia Reiterer had to take a break due to a severe chest contusion that she had suffered in an accident and a subsequent pneumonia. Tarek Leitner moderated in the center for eight weeks . It only returned to the screens on April 15, 2018.

According to the research platform "Addendum", "Im Zentrum" is the ORF's political broadcast with the greatest party-political balance. This applies both to the year before the 2019 election and to 2017. In contrast to other formats, four to five guests come to the program every Sunday in "Im Zentrum", which helps achieve a better party-political balance. "In the center" also has by far the highest proportion of women at around 37 percent in 2019.

Further tasks

In 2015 her book “The Popcorn Effect: From Dream to Success” was published. In October 2015, the bestseller was number 1 in the bestseller ranking on Amazon in Austria ("Biographies & Memories" and "Politics & History" categories) and Switzerland (Politics & History categories). In it, Reiterer examines when people's ability and talent lead to success and what role childhood, education and happiness play in this. She interviewed 28 successful people from a wide variety of disciplines, including Heinz Fischer, Marcel Hirscher, Elisabeth Gürtler, Rudolf Taschner, Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, Gerhard Zeiler, Alfons Schuhbeck and Frank Elstner.

As a lecturer and lecturer, she was u. a. at the Institute for Educational Sciences in Graz and the FH Joanneum .

She is co-author of a book (2009) about the FPÖ politician Heinz-Christian Strache .

Others

In May 2009 Claudia Reiterer won the 5th season of Dancing Stars together with professional dancer Andy Kainz . In the 6th season (2011) she was a juror for the fourth dance week.

In 2010 she was a candidate in the celebrity edition of Die Millionenshow and hosted the Vienna Opera Ball from the Vienna State Opera together with Alfons Haider .

In 2010 she brought Felix Dvorak to his Festival in Berndorf , where she made her acting debut in "Schorben brings Glück".

From 2008 to 2016 she moderated the award ceremony for the Austrian Climate Protection Prize .

Claudia Reiterer has moderated the annual "Austria-Gala" since 2009, at which the "Austrians of the Year" are chosen by the daily newspaper "Die Presse ".

family

Reiterer is the mother of one son. She lives separately from communications and strategy consultant Lothar Lockl .
