Walk the Moon is an American pop / indie rock - band from Cincinnati , Ohio . The band was founded in 2008 by lead singer Nicholas Petricca, although the current line-up has only existed since 2010. The band name was based on the title Walking on the Moon by The Police . While the first album I Want! I want! Released independently in November 2010, the band has been under contract with RCA Records since early 2011 . The first official album Walk the Moon was released in June 2012.

history

The song Anna Sun was mentioned by Esquire magazine in the list of 30 summer songs everyone should hear in the summer of 2011 . The song was composed by Petricca and the New York singer and songwriter Nick Lerangis at the end of their college career and is said to represent youthfulness. "It's about college, about maintaining that little bit of being a kid", says Petricca, "Don't be afraid to play".

The single Shut Up + Dance from the album Talking Is Hard was released on September 9, 2014. The album itself was released on December 2, 2014, but a week earlier on Spotify.
