reception

Jonathan Fischer wrote during the time, among other things: “That the man now knows how to spell mass appeal is proven by the pre-release single Fuck You, which was viewed more than 20 million times on the Internet! No commercial obscenity, but the cry of an abandoned lover who sees his ex rushing past with a new friend in the Ferrari: 'He's an X-Box for you / I'm just an Atari'. Green sarcastically packs the tragedy of an unrequited passion into an irresistible snap of the fingers; Even Motown boss Berry Gordy could hardly avoid recognizing that the song has whistling qualities. "

In the Weserkurier , Jochen Overbeck wrote: “A song that is refreshingly funny about having or not having money - but above all one that shows how the music world works in 2010. Without any promotion and almost exclusively through dissemination in the relevant social networks , the song became a hit within a few days. ”[...] Cee Lo writes pop songs:“ Pieces that are not too excessive, that have soul, that are reminiscent of the greats of the 60s. and remember the 70s. "

Live performances

Green led that song with an all-female band called Scarlet Fever ( scarlet ) at Taratata , Reeperbahn Festival , Later with Jools Holland , BBC Radio , the Late Show with David Letterman , Saturday Night Live and many other events. Green also appeared on February 13, 2011 at the 53rd Grammy Awards with Gwyneth Paltrow and the Muppets. On February 15th, Greens performed the song with Paloma Faith at the 2011 BRIT Awards .
