Maria Santner (born October 13, 1986 in Sipbachzell , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian dancer . Together with her brother Christoph Santner , she was Austrian national champion in 2009 in the standard dances of amateurs. She became known to a wide audience through her participation in five seasons of the dance show Dancing Stars . She briefly appeared under the name Jahn, which she dropped in 2013.

Career

Maria Santner has been dancing with her older brother Christoph since she was a teenager. She danced her first tournament in March 1996 at the age of 9. In 2003 they became Austrian youth champions in standard dance. The couple has been a member of the Austrian national team since 2007. In 2009 they became Austrian state champions in standard dance. In 2010 and 2011 they became national champions in standard dance, and in 2010 vice state champions in standard dances. In 2011 Maria Santner switched from the amateur to the professional camp. In the same year she and her brother became world champions in Vienna at a competition not recognized by the Austrian Dance Association. In 2012 they danced for Austria at the Professional Standard World Championships in Blackpool. Santner has been teaching dance couples at TSC Grün-Rot Wels since 2012. The youngest dance couple she supervised, Christian and Petra, reached the final of Die Große Chance in 2012 .

Since 2015 she has been running a dance school in Wels together with her brother Christoph . The dance school was relocated to the listed Dragonerhöfe in Wels in September 2018 .

In 2012 she danced in Dancing Stars with the musical actor Michael Schönborn , and in 2013 she was assigned the ex-boxer Biko Botowamungu .

In 2014 she reached the finals with the singer Marco Angelini and reached second place. In 2016 Santner danced at “ Dancing Stars ” with Georgij Makazaria from Russia and took 3rd place in the final. In 2017 she won the show with her dance partner Martin Ferdiny .

From March 2018, ORF 2 broadcast a weekly television dance course with her and her brother Christoph as part of the program Daheim in Austria . The television viewers were taught the basic steps of various dances in 3-minute clips.

Together with Roswitha Wieland, Santner took part in the video "Bierzeltbraut" by Marco Angelini and choreographed the dance scenes.

In 2019 and 2020, she and her brother Christoph designed the opening choreography for the Vienna Opera Ball .

Private

Santner is in a relationship with her 2014 Dancing Stars dance partner Marco Angelini . In April 2020, she announced her pregnancy.
