Róža Domašcyna (born August 11, 1951 in Zerna , Kamenz district ) is a Sorbian poet , essayist, playwright, editor and translator . She is a member of the PEN Center Germany and the Saxon Academy of the Arts .

Life

From 1968 to 1972 she worked in the editorial department of the Sorbian children's and youth magazine Płomjo and the daily newspaper Nowa doba . Since 1970 she has published poems in the Sorbian press. From 1979 she studied engineering economics in mining and worked as a typist and materials manager in Knappenrode until 1984 . From 1985 to 1989 she studied at the Leipzig Literature Institute "Johannes R. Becher" . She has been a freelance writer since 1990 .

The political and social turnaround in the GDR brought Róža Domašcyna's literary breakthrough. She herself appears as a post-poet mainly from Slavic languages ; her poems have been translated into numerous Slavic and Western European languages. In her texts she uses poetic interferences between Sorbian and German ; Both languages form a connection that consistently follows the path proposed by Kito Lorenc of the further development of Sorbian poetry .

In the musical- phonetic composition “parkfiguren. Lyrical moment with a German-Sorbian text by Róža Domašcyna “ , the composer Harald Muenz uses the bilingualism of Domašcyna's text as a tonal puzzle for a speaking and a singing voice.
