Dombrowitz ( Polish Dąbrowice ; 1936-1945 Eichgrund OS ) is a place in Upper Silesia in the municipality of Chronstau (Chrząstowice) in the Powiat Opolski of the Opole Voivodeship in Poland .

Dombrowitz is twelve kilometers from the voivodeship capital Opole .
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1297. In 1566 the name Dumbrowicz was mentioned.
In the referendum on March 20, 1921, 134 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 45 for Poland. Dombrowitz remained with the German Empire. In 1933 there were 272 residents in Dombrowitz.
From 1933, the new National Socialist rulers carried out large-scale renaming of place names of Slavic origin. On June 15, 1936, the place was renamed Eichgrund OS . In 1939 Eichgrund OS had 294 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Opole .
In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration, was initially renamed Dąbrowie and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. The name of the place was later changed to Dąbrowice . In 1950 Dombrowitz became part of the Opole Voivodeship and in 1999 the re-established Powiat Opolski . On January 25, 2006 , German was introduced as the second official language in the Chronstau community to which Dombrowitz belongs. In May 2008, the place was also given the official place name Dombrowitz .
