Lendzin , ( Polish Lędziny , 1936-1945 Lenzen ), is a place in Upper Silesia in the Chronstau municipality in the Opolski powiat of the Opole Voivodeship in Poland .

Lendzin is located six kilometers west of the voivodeship capital Opole along the state road Droga krajowa 46 .
history
The Lendzin colony was founded between 1800 and 1803 and was settled with 20 colonists. An older spelling of the place is Lendzien .
In the vicinity of the later colony there was once a place first mentioned in 1295 as Lendzynicze . In 1566 the name Lendyn was mentioned. Then the place became desolate.
In 1854 the small Maria-Hilf-Kirche was built.
The first school was built in the village in 1900. In the referendum on March 20, 1921, 155 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 63 for Poland. Lendzin remained with the German Empire. In 1933 there were 347 inhabitants in Lendzin. On May 19, 1936, the place was renamed Lenzen . In 1939 Lenzen had 378 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Opole .
In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration, was renamed Lędziny and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 Lendzin was assigned to the Opole Voivodeship , in 1999 it became part of the re-established Powiat Opolski . On January 25, 2006, German was introduced as the second official language in the Chrząstowice commune of which Lędziny belongs. In May 2008, the place was also given the official German place name Lendzin .
