Domenico Maria Salle

Domenico Maria Salle (also: Salles; also: Sala) (* 5. September 1727 in Roveredo , Grisons ; † 26. February 1808 in Eichstätt ) was the last court architect of the Bishopric of Eichstätt.

Life

His father was Giovanni Giuseppe Salle, who worked as "Aedilis" (master of ceremonies) at the Stuttgart court. He himself worked under the last court building director Maurizio Pedetti as "Ballier" (Palier) from 1756 , from 1762 as court trellis and from 1769 as architect in the service of the cathedral chapter of Eichstätt . As a rural master builder, he had to inspect damaged churches, write reports, order (partial) demolitions, plan and manage new buildings and, above all, renovation work. He was mainly occupied with major renovations at Hirschberg Castle and the former Jesuit college in Eichstätt. In 1765 he married Anna Maria Glezganin from Ornbau in Eichstätt (according to the entry in the parish register of the Marienpfarrei) ; the wedding took place in Mörsach near Ornbau, where he was busy building the caste office. When the secularization from 1803 to 1806 put an end to the prince-bishopric and also the court building activity, Salle was at an advanced age.
