Dominic Fike
Dominic David Fike (born December 30, 1995 in Naples , Florida ) is an American singer and rapper .
Life
Dominic Fike is from Naples, Florida. He grew up with his mother, her changing partners and his four siblings. His mother was a drug addict and spent much of his youth in prison while he looked after his two younger siblings.
He came into contact with music early on. First influences were Jack Johnson , Blink-182 and Red Hot Chili Peppers . With his older brother Sean, he joined a group of skaters and musicians. At first he tried his hand at rapper and started a crew with his friends. He was to play with Lame Boys ENT at South by Southwest in Austin in 2015 . However, he missed the gig after he was threatened with expulsion from school.
His actual musical career began in December 2017 with the release of his extended play Don't Forget About Me on Soundcloud . He had written and recorded the EP while he was first under house arrest and then in custody for assaulting a police officer .
The EP caught the attention of Columbia Records , who signed the young singer for about $ 3-4 million. Then all of his music, including his first steps as a rapper, was taken from the Internet and the EP was released a second time on October 16, 2018.
The track 3 Nights was released from the EP and became a hit in Australia and New Zealand, among others. In Australia, the single rose to number 4 and was awarded a double platinum record . In New Zealand, the single reached number 9 and was awarded a platinum record.
