In the first half of the season he scored four goals with eight substitutions. Since December 2014 he has been a regular starter for the third division team. In November 2014 he extended his contract until the summer of 2017.

For the 2015/16 season , Widemann moved to the second division club 1. FC Heidenheim , where he received a three-year contract. In his first season for the club from the Swabian Alb , he came to five appearances as a substitute in the 2nd Bundesliga.

In the summer of 2018 he returned to SpVgg Unterhaching for free. In the total of two seasons for Upper Bavaria, he scored nine goals in 53 league games.

In June 2019, the Würzburger Kickers announced the signing of Widemann. The striker was awarded a one-year contract with an option for another season. Widemann made 21 appearances this season at Würzburg and scored his only two goals this season in the 4-5 defeat against his ex-club Unterhaching, although he only played one game over the full length (7 substitutions, 13 substitutions). At the end of the season, Würzburg rose to second place in the Bundesliga, Widemann missed half a game for an automatic contract extension, and subsequent contract negotiations failed.
