Donald Adamson
Donald Adamson (born March 30, 1939 in Culcheth , Cheshire , GB ) is a British historian , critic and translator of French literature ( Honoré de Balzac , Guy de Maupassant ).
biography
Born the son of a farmer, Adamson was awarded in 1959 the degree of Bachelor of Arts at Magdalen College of Oxford University and from 1959 to 1960, the Zaharoff scholarship. 1971 Adamson was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy of Oxford for at Jean Seznec at All Souls College wrote doctoral thesis entitled Balzac and the Visual Arts .
From 1969 to 1989 he taught at Goldsmiths College, University of London , before 1989 Visiting Fellow ( guest lecturer ) at Wolfson College of the University of Cambridge was appointed. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature (FRSL), the Society of Antiquaries of London (FSA), and the Royal Historical Society (FRHistS).
Politically, he was involved in the promotion of museums, picture galleries and libraries in the United Kingdom and worked successfully for the creation of the National Heritage Memorial Fund . He is married and has two children.
In 2012/13 he was a Master at the Curriers' Company .
