Donald Sumpter (born February 13, 1943 in Brixworth , England ) is a British actor .

Career

Sumpter has been an actor since the mid-1960s. He had his first known television role in 1968 in the Doctor Who series The Wheel in Space , with Patrick Troughton as a doctor. In 1972 the next Doctor Who series, The Sea Devil , followed, in which Sumpter also participated. He made his third appearance in a Doctor Who offshoot in 2006 in The Sarah Jane Adventures . In 1977 he played the role of the real serial killer Donald Neilson in the thriller The Black Panther .

Sumpter had also participated in numerous other productions, including often in film adaptations of Charles Dickens' novels. These include Nicholas Nickleby (2001), Great Expectations (1999) and Bleak House (1985). In 1992 he played the role of the neurotic Mr. Cust in the Agatha Christie's Poirot episode The ABC Murderer . Other series in which he was seen include Inspector Barnaby , The Bill , Holby City , A Touch of Frost and Game of Thrones .

As a film actor, Sumpter has appeared in films such as Enigma - The Secret (2001), K-19 - Showdown in the Deep (2002) and The Eternal Gardener (2005).
