Donatus Edet Akpan

Donatus Edet Akpan (born August 7, 1952 in Ikot Ada Utor , Akwa Ibom , Nigeria ) is a Nigerian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Ogoja .

Life

Donatus Edet Akpan received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Ikot Ekpene on October 15, 1985 .

After his ordination he was first a teacher at the boys' seminary in Afaha Obong. From 1987 to 1989 he studied at the University of Nigeria , where he earned a diploma in education and a master's degree in biblical theology. From 1989 he worked as a fidei donum priest in the Archdiocese of Abuja , among other things as pastor and reign of the seminary . Since 2016 he has been pastor of the Rosenkramt parish in the Wuse district of Abuja , head of the liturgy commission and master of ceremonies of the Archdiocese of Abuja.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Ogoja on April 9, 2017. The Archbishop of Calabar , Joseph Effiong Ekuwem , ordained him episcopal on July 7th of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Uyo , John Ebebe Ayah , and the Bishop of Ikot Ekpene, Camillus Raymond Umoh .
