Donor was a Dutch progressive power and thrash metal band from Oostzaan , founded in 1987 and disbanded in 1995.

history

The band was founded in 1987 by guitarist Jelle Bekker. Other members were the singer Ard van Bers, the guitarists Bart Vreken and Jelle Bakker, the bassist Cees van Petten and the drummer Toni van Petten. In 1989 the group could also be heard on the sampler Metal in Rocks II . In addition, she published the demo Inexplicable Knowledge and then reached a contract with Mausoleum Records . As a result, the band was able to increase their awareness and went on tours through various European countries, performing together with groups such as Napalm Death , Artillery , Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction , Dirty Rotten Imbeciles , Nuclear Assault and Psychotic Waltz . In 1992 and 1994 Mausoleum Records also released the albums Triangle of the Lost and Release , on which Richard Dijkman could be heard as the new singer before the band split up in early 1995. Some members therefore they founded the band Frozen Sun .

style

According to Eduardo Rivadavia from Allmusic, the band play progressive thrash metal, which, together with the distinctive vocals, is reminiscent of Watchtower . According to Andreas Schöwe from Metal Hammer the band to play Triangle of the Lost varied and progressive Power Metal, in songs like Triumph Fires also Black Sabbath elements are heard. The riffs would be reminiscent of Megadeth and Metal Church , while the vocals sound like Warrel Dane ( Sanctuary ). On release , according to Volker Raabe vom Metal Hammer , the band moved away from Power and Progressive Metal, which was also brought about by Richard Dijkman as the new singer. In addition, the band is very varied in their arrangements.
