Douglas Wolfsperger examines the phenomenon of double identities in his documentation . Among other things, he follows the lives of two Angela Merkel doppelgangers who report on their experiences as a politician double. In doing so, in humorous, ironic but also serious scenes, deeper questions about identity , perception of others and individuality are touched upon.

Double life was shot in 26 days. The shooting lasted from February 1, 2011 to May 26, 2011 and was carried out in Leipzig , Berlin , Lübeck , Stuttgart and Hegau on Lake Constance. The film was produced by Douglas Wolfsperger Filmproduktion (Berlin) in coproduction with Norddeutscher Rundfunk (Hamburg). The German theatrical release was on August 30, 2012.
