Dora or the sexual neuroses of our parents is a film by Stina Werenfels from 2015. It is based on the play The sexual neuroses of our parents by Lukas Bärfuss . The cinema release in Germany was on May 21, 2015.

action

The 18 year old, mentally handicapped Dora is a fun-loving and bright girl. When her mother Kristin Doras stops medication, she begins to discover her sexuality. She meets the dodgy Peter at a market, who she likes right away. It doesn't take long for the two of them to sleep together. Dora's parents do not believe in any of this and forbid her to have contact with Peter, which, however, does not deter Dora. She becomes pregnant unexpectedly and threatens to tear her family apart.

criticism

The film service judged that the film celebrated “the pleasant, relaxed atmosphere of its protagonist's cheerful zest for life, which is an example of the right to sexuality and self-determination even for mentally disabled people”. The "incredibly violent, but also incredibly courageous film" sometimes strikes "unexpectedly humorous tones and confronts the flowing limits of perception as well as the flowing moral limits".
