description

The stones and shape of the church tower indicate that it was built around 1200.

With the addition of the nave in 1445 on the west side of the tower, the tower stands in the middle. Much later, the older church was demolished.

The choir was once located in the cross vault under the tower on the site of today's sacristy . In 1699, due to the growth of the community, an extension was added to the nave. In 1707 the thatched tower was covered with bricks. In 1834 a hood and an open lantern were added to the tower roof and covered with slate . The neo-Romanesque nave was added north of the tower in 1854. The draft for this design comes from the master builder Tröger from Saalfeld / Saale . For this purpose, stones were broken in the forest and transported to the construction site by the farmers.

In 1855, hailstorms destroyed the windows on the north side of the house. They have been replaced by colored discs.

The renovation was celebrated at the 100th anniversary in 1954 ; Regional Bishop Mitzenheim also consecrated the three steel bells.

On August 26, 1973, the temporarily last service took place in the church , which had been damaged by rainwater.

From 1978 to 1980 the tower dome was renewed in a simple style by master carpenter Bertram from Suhl and covered with shingles ; in 1980 the church roof was covered with a Preolit shingle . By 1992 that had company HEISSNER from Gräfenroda rework.

On November 11, 2001, the church was consecrated again with Regional Bishop Christoph Kähler .

The 1862-1868 created organ of Glaser from Saalfeld in 1910 and 1927 by the company Eifert from Stadtilm repaired and rebuilt. In 1998 the Wagner company from Jena brought five stops of the instrument, which was no longer playable from 1973, to sound again.

The bells came from Volkstedt in 1693 . One crashed in 1708 and was cast over, as did a bell that cracked in 1755. Except for the small bell, the other two were melted down in 1914 for war purposes. In 1957 the parish received three steel bells from Apolda .

The wooden baptism was given in 1857. The crucifix and a metal chandelier were vandalized in 1973 and replaced by objects made of wood.
