The Protestant village church Göttin is a neo-Romanesque hall church in Göttin , a district of the city of Brandenburg an der Havel in the state of Brandenburg . The church belongs to the parish area of the Cathedral Parish of the church district Mittelmark Brandenburg of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Oberlausitz .

location

The Krahner road runs from the north to the southeast through the town. From here the village road branches off to the north. The church stands northwest of this junction on a church cemetery that is fenced in with a fence .

history

Krahne was a branch church of painke until 1541 , so there must have been a sacred building at that time . The Brandenburg State Office for the Preservation of Monuments and the State Archaeological Museum (BLDAM) suspects that only the church tower of this structure has been preserved and was included in a new building. This was built around 1870 by the master mason August Eiserbeck from Golzow (Mittelmark) . The original plan to expand the existing church was discarded due to the increasing population.

Building description

West portal

With the exception of the west tower, the structure was essentially built from red bricks on a base made of uncut and non-layered field stones . The apse is retracted and has three arched windows, of which the middle one was later closed with masonry stones. At the transition to the conical roof is an arched frieze that opens downwards .

This is followed by the nave . It has a rectangular plan; the east side is closed. In the gable there are two closed, high rectangular openings; it is decorated with a cone-shaped frieze. The north and south sides of the nave are comparatively simple: Here are four large arched windows each; a round arch frieze above it.

The transversely rectangular, recessed church tower connects to the west. It probably comes from a previous building from the 15th century and was built from uncut and non-layered field stones, some of which were plastered in 1976. The builders used bricks along the edges. It can be entered from the west through an arched, brick-lined portal. Above are two pressed segment arched panels , above two smaller openings. On the north and south sides there is only one screen or sound arcade . Above the transverse gable roof rises the octagonal spire, which ends with a tower ball , weather vane from 1734 and a star.

Furnishing

The wooden altarpiece was made in baroque forms and shows the entombment of Christ . It is placed between winding columns with a triangular pediment above it. The rest of the church furnishings , including the neo-baroque, five-sided pulpit dates from the construction period around 1870 and takes up the design language of the reredos. The likewise wooden Fünte dates from 1909. On the west gallery there is an organ with a prospect from the time around 1870. The building has an open wooden beam ceiling inside. In the cemetery there are two classicist tombs from 1799.
