Glazov village church

The Protestant village church Glasow is a field stone church in Glasow , a district of the municipality Blankenfelde-Mahlow in the district of Teltow-Fläming in Brandenburg .

history

The sacred building was built in the second half of the 13th century. 1672 added parish to the west tower and renewed in 1693, the church pews . Repairs to the nave and tower were necessary in 1706 and 1753 . The parish suspects that originally there was only a boarded-up previous building, which was replaced in 1846. In 1853 she bought the altar , in 1878 an organ . In 1895 the tower received a clock. In the years 1927 to 1929 the parish restored the interior. In 1972 a storm damaged the roof and the tower, but it was not until 1976 that the repair work could be carried out. No further maintenance work was carried out in the following decades. This led to the roof truss being lowered and the church being closed in July 2000 due to the risk of collapse. In the spring of 2002, a renovation took place, which was completed on June 30, 2002 with another church consecration . In the following year, further renovation work was carried out.

architecture

Blocked priest gate

The builders used hewn field stones for the rectangular building , which they carefully piled. On the southern wall of the nave is a priest's gate, also covered with field stones, with a pointed arched arch . Significantly smaller field stones were used below the eaves , which indicates a repair at a later date. At this position in the building, a construction seam on the west tower can also be seen, which could have come from an increase in the tower. The three high windows are shaped in a baroque style; their bottles brightly plastered . The choir is straight, also made of field stones, if not so carefully layered. In the middle, the remains of a pressed, ogive-arch-shaped window, clogged with wall fragments and small field stones, can be seen - a possible remnant of a group of three windows . The gable is made of small, non-layered stones. In the center is a slit-shaped opening set in red brick . The north wall of the nave has a similar structure to the south wall, albeit with only two windows facing east. The west tower takes up the width of the nave. Here, too, the field stones in the lower area are rather the same size and layered, while the gable was built from small stones. A simple portal provides access. The baroque tower tower is square and plastered on its west side. On the other sides, the half-timbered frame made of black wood and a light compartment with a sound arcade on the north and south sides can be seen. Behind it is a steel and bronze bell. A clock is mounted in the significantly narrower wooden tower hood above . The tower closes with a tower ball and weather vane . The simple gable roof is covered with a reddish beaver tail .

Furnishing

The simple furnishings date from the middle of the 19th century, for example the altar from 1853. Originally there were two carved figures in the church from the first half of the 18th century, which are said to come from the Goslar Cathedral . They represented John the Baptist and Peter . On the night of November 29th to 30th, 1991, previously unknown perpetrators broke into the church. They stole a Bible, a baptismal font, a crucifix and the figure of Peter.

The horseshoe gallery was shortened to the western part in 1970/1980. An organ from the mid-19th century stands on it. The interior of the building is flat, but originally had a wooden barrel vault .
