Grüna village church

The Protestant village church Grüna is a neo-Gothic hall church from the end of the 19th century in Grüna , a district of the town of Jüterbog in the Teltow-Fläming district in the state of Brandenburg . The church belongs to the parish of Zossen Fläming the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Oberlausitz . The church is a listed building.

location

A municipal road of the same name leads through Grüna, spanning the historic village green in an elliptical west-east direction. The building stands on this property, which is not fenced in .

history

The place was probably founded in the last third of the 12th century and was part of the original equipment of the Zinna monastery . It is therefore very likely that the Cistercians also built a stone church here. This previous building burned down in 1870. The parish then erected a new building in 1873 and 1874, which was based on the village church in Kablow ; a design by FE Petzholtz . A renovation took place between 1960 and 1963.

Building description

West portal

The structure was essentially made of reddish brick on a narrow base made of unlayered and poorly hewn field stones . The choir is strongly drawn in and has a five-eighth ending . On each side is a narrow, raised lancet window , with a two-stepped buttress in between . At the transition to the nave there is a small, rectangular extension on both sides. The gable is richly decorated with seven staggered, ogival panels . In each arch there are two more coupled arches with a circular screen above.

The north and south sides of the nave are simple and symmetrical. Five raised and large, pointed arch-shaped tracery windows were installed along the entire length of the facade . The corners of the ship are emphasized by pilaster strips . In the lower part of the western wall there are two small windows; above the band the panels already used from the east side. At the transition to the gable roof is a surrounding German band .

The west tower is square and strongly drawn in. It can be entered from the west through a pointed arched portal through a large, rectangular gate. There is a multi-pass on the west side and a narrow window on the north and south side. Above the surrounding frieze there are further windows on all three sides, and above them three ogival panels and windows. Above another frieze that opens downwards is the tower floor . In the middle is a high, ogival arcade of sound , accompanied by a smaller panel on each side. Above it is the eight-fold kinked spire , which ends with a tower ball and cross.

Furnishing

The church furnishings are described in the Dehio manual as "simply based on the construction period".

The apse and the tower have a ribbed vault . In the vestibule of the church there is an epitaph that commemorates Johann Wolschläger and his wife Ursula Lehmann, who died in 1718 and 1716 respectively. There is an angel cloud in the essay above the tombstone. The font, organ and pulpit date from the construction period around 1874. The organ was built by Wilhelm Lobbes from Niemegk.

A bronze bell dates from the 15th century, it was only brought to Grüna after 1945. There are two more bronze bells in the church; according to the inscription, these date from 1854 and 1926.

To the east of the building there is a memorial on the village green, which commemorates those who died in the First World War. It bears the inscription: “Honor to God! / To our fallen brothers / glory. / For the bereaved / for consolation. / For the coming generations / as a warning. / The grateful community / Grüna / 1914–1918 “. A commemorative plaque with the inscription: "To the dead of World War II / 1939–1945 / To commemorate / To the living as a warning" was placed underneath.
