The church belongs to the parish of Oderland-Spree of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Oberlausitz .

location

The Chausseestraße into east-west direction as the central connecting axis through the town. It spans the historic village green in the south . To the north of the street the church stands on a plot of land with a church cemetery that is fenced in .

history

In 1495 a previous building made of field stones was built in the village . In 1867, the parish had the structure largely dismantled in order to build a new building using the old church tower . This was inaugurated in 1877 . Between 1991 and 1997 the building was extensively renovated.

Building description

West tower

The church was essentially rebuilt from yellowish brick . The polygonal choir is slightly drawn in. The sides are each supported by a buttress that extends almost to the eaves . In between there is a large and multi-part pointed arch window in each of the three fields. At the transition to the eaves is a downward frieze . It is continued in the east wall as a frieze made up of quaternized quatrains . The gable is decorated with a total of seven ogival panels ; above it are eight pinnacles .

This is followed by the nave , which was executed in the form of a Greek cross . On the west and east side of the nave are one, on the transverse arm two ogival windows each, under which significantly smaller, ogival windows were arranged. The gable on the transept is also decorated with a frieze, above it a richly decorated gable gable. At the southeast corner there is a rectangular, drawn-in extension, which is supplemented by another, also rectangular, drawn-in extension. In the middle part is a rectangular gate.

To the west is the church tower that was taken over from the previous building. It is transversely rectangular and was built from unhewn and non-layered field stones. Access is via a profiled pointed arch portal, above which are two coupled round panels. On the bell floor , the builders provided two coupled sound arcades that were incorporated into a pointed arch panel. Above it is the roof, which is decorated with panels and placed at right angles.

Furnishing

The church equipment was taken down from the previous part, including Fuente , a Taufkanne and a chandelier. The originally built altar and the pulpit were lost during renovation work in the 1970s. Only the altar retable remained and was hung over the new, brick-built and comparatively simple altar.

Two bells hang in the tower: one from 1593 from the previous building and a newer model from 1924. An organ that Ferdinand Dinse built in 1878 stands on the west gallery . There are several epitaphs on the outer walls of the choir and transept .
