Neuhof village church

The Protestant village church Neuhof is a Gothic hall church from the end of the 14th century in Neuhof , a district of the town of Jüterbog in the Teltow-Fläming district in the state of Brandenburg . The church belongs to the parish of Zossen Fläming the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Oberlausitz .

location

Coming from the west, the Dorfstrasse leads to the historic village green . There it spans an elliptical plot and continues in a north-easterly direction. The church stands on this area, which is enclosed by a wall made of masonry stones .

history

Neuhof was first mentioned in a document in 1170 and served as a farm yard for the Zinna monastery in the following centuries . It can therefore be assumed that the Cistercians commissioned the building of a church. Dendrochronological examinations of the roof structure have shown that work began in 1393. At that time the wood for the roof truss was cut. The sacred building was therefore built at the end of the 14th century. In 1873 the renewed church the roof turret .

Building description

View from the west

The structure was built from mixed masonry consisting of uncut field stones, masonry stones and stone fragments. The choir is straight and has not moved in. On the eastern wall there are two large, deep-seated, beehive-shaped windows, with a narrow stitch window in between, which could still come from an original group of three windows from the time the church was built. Above this, in the gable, an ox-eye clogged with reddish bricks can be seen - a possible indication of a planned but not executed barrel vault . Above is a small window and a cross on the roof ridge .

The nave has a rectangular floor plan. On the south side of the chancel to the west is a segment-arched window, including a gate. To the east of this, at the same height as the window mentioned, there is another, pressed, ogival window. The windows in the nave are similar. To the west is a larger window, to the east a narrower one with a gate below. There is also another, deep window between the two openings. The reveal of the windows is emphasized by inclined bezels ; repair work with reddish brick can be seen on all of them. The same applies to the gates. On the north side there are only two raised, larger windows and two significantly smaller openings to the west of them. The nave is a simple gable roof covered.

The west tower takes up the full width of the nave. There is no opening on its western facade. In the gable there are three pointed arch-shaped panels added with bricks . This is followed by a square spire . It is clad with black slate and has a segmented arcade of sound on each side . The pyramid roof ends with a tower ball , weather vane and cross.

Furnishing

View into the nave

The wooden pulpit altar dates from around 1700. It consists of two pillars decorated with acanthus . The polygonal pulpit is decorated with fruit hangings. In its parapets there are pictures of the baby Jesus in triumph over death and the evangelists . The baroque seating is kept simple. A church drawer was probably built in the 16th century, but is dated to 1764. Two memorial plaques for the fallen hang on the parapet of the gallery.

The inside of the building is flat covered and plastered.
