After graduating from St. Thomas University in Miramichi in 1963, Lyman Ward turned to acting. The first appearance on US television took over the Canadian-born in 1971 with a guest role in the Bonanza episode Easy Come, Easy Go . In 1987 he starred again in the comedy Ein Ticket für Zwei , directed by Hughes, here he played a business partner of Steve Martin . In 1990 he was cast for the role of father Jim Walsh in the television series Beverly Hills, 90210 , but he was fired during the filming of the pilot episode and replaced by James Eckhouse . To date, Ward has appeared in around 100 film and television productions. He was last seen in the television series Transparent in 2015 .
Lyman Ward was married three times, all marriages ended in divorce. From 1986 to 1992 he was third married to actress Cindy Pickett , whom he met while filming Ferris makes blue . In Ferris makes blue (1986) and Stephen King's sleepwalker (1992) they each embodied a married couple. Pickett and Ward have two children together.
