Priborn village church

The village church is a listed church building in Priborn , a municipality in the Mecklenburg Lake District ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ). It belongs to the parish Vipperow in the Propstei Neustrelitz, parish of Mecklenburg of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany .

History and architecture

A glass window with the coat of arms of Duke Carl was recovered from the previous church and installed in the new church.

The rectangular brick church was built from 1869 to 1870 by the Schwerin building officer Theodor Krüger . It is richly decorated with friezes and stepped brick panels. The small annex with fial-like attachments was probably a gate in the past. The walls are structured by high, ogival windows with stepped walls and flat and stepped supporting pillars. At the corners of the ship there are fial-like attachments with embedded crosses. The choir is covered with slate. The retracted, polygonal choir is spanned by a ribbed vault with brick elements. A triumphal arch with brick bulges forms the connection from the nave to the choir .

tower

The tower stands on a hexagonal floor plan, it was placed in front of the building on the west side. The upper floor is structured by sound openings and is crowned by a helmet and a weather vane .
