history

The church was built as a stone church around the second half of the 12th century . It was changed a lot in the 18th and 19th centuries. In 1752 a half-timbered tower was built as a bell storey. In 1884 the church was enlarged to create a cross-shaped floor plan. The transept was made of brick ; the east wall also received brick elements. In 1886 the first organ was installed in the transept. It was replaced in 1989 by an organ in the same place. In 1999 the roof was re-covered; In 2004 and 2008 the tower was renovated.

Architecture, equipment and use of the church

One of five bells is a bronze bell from 1337. On it there is an incised drawing and an inscription by the bell founder , ego sum hermannus (I am Hermann). The pulpit , richly decorated with carvings, dates from 1691. It is carried by a wooden figure of Moses . The oval carved altar was inaugurated in 1700. A special feature is a second baptismal font in the shape of a goblet on a cube capital . Above the sacrament niche are the coats of arms of the former church patrons , the Lords of Bartensleben (wolf jumping over two grain hobs) and von der Schulenburg (three eagles catch).
