The church belongs to the church circle center Mark Brandenburg of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Oberlausitz .

location

The federal road 246 runs as Trebbiner Allee in a west-east direction as a central connecting axis through the town. In the historic center, the Neue Bergstrasse branches off to the north. To the east of the street the church stands on a plot of land that rises to the north and is enclosed by a wall .

history

The history of the church is closely linked to the noble family von Thümen , who had great influence in the region over many centuries. They had a sacred building built in 1727 . It replaced a simple previous building that had been built in 1559.

Building description

Alliance coat of arms on the south portal

The building was essentially made of bricks , which were then plastered . The choir is straight and has not moved in. On the east side there are two simple and tall rectangular windows. In the gable , which is also plastered, there are four smaller openings: two small round-arched windows and above them two small, rectangular openings.

This is followed by the nave . It has a rectangular floor plan and is comparatively simple. On the north side there are four equally large and high rectangular windows. They were evenly distributed over the facade. At the western transition is a small, square and lower window. On the south side, in the western area, there is initially also a lower window, followed by two tall rectangular windows. To the south is a patronage box . At the transition to the box there is a high rectangular gate on the ship. Above is a donor inscription with the alliance coat of arms of Christian Wilhelm von Thümen (1663–1741) and Sabina Hedgwig (née von Schlieben ). The box has a rectangular floor plan and can be entered from the west through a pressed segment arched gate. There are two large windows above it. The south and east walls are closed. Loge and Das Schiff each have a simple gable roof .

In the west is the transverse rectangular church tower . It can be entered from the south through a portal. There is an upright rectangular window at the staircase above. On each side of the bell storey there are two arched sound arcades . Above it is a transverse gable roof.

Furnishing

The church furnishings include a wooden pulpit altar with side passages. It was probably built when the church was being built. The structure consists of an aedicule into which a rounded pulpit is embedded. On each side there is an angel figure, each carrying a chalice or a paten as a symbol for the Eucharist .

The furnishings also include three paintings that were created at the end of the 16th / beginning of the 17th century. They show scenes from the New Testament . Several epitaphs remember Martin Schulze, who died in 1725, and his five children, who died in 1715 and 1719. In the west of the building there is a gallery ; on the south side is the transition to the glazed patronage box. The building has a flat roof inside, but is decorated with stucco; at the transition there is a haunch .
