geography
course
The Dornbach arises in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe (east of the Knobelsmühle) from the confluence of the cold water with the brook from the gold mine . It flows in an easterly direction first through the site of the technical relief organization and then crosses under Urseler Straße . It then flows through the office and industrial park and passes under the S5 railway line . When the area was built on and the stream was moved underground, it was contractually stipulated that the company located there would bear the costs of the renaturation after deduction, which became effective in 2013. After crossing under the railway line, a section that has also been renatured and piped up until 2013 follows parallel to the Hessenring . In front of this, the stream disappears underground again to reappear on the surface east of the road, reinforced by the Heuchelbach coming from the left . In Bad Homburg- Gonzenheim near the street Am alten Bach begins a last underground canal. This is to be swiveled a few meters to the south as part of the extension of the U2 underground line . The new canal will have a light shaft at the level of Gotenstrasse and a central water channel lined with natural stones and transverse ribs. To the north of the Alt-Gonzenheim road , the Dornbach finally joins the Kirdorfer Bach to form the Eschbach , only to emerge a few meters further east into the daylight.
