Douglas James Jardine

Sir Douglas James Jardine KCMG OBE ( October 13, 1888 - December 11, 1946 ) was a British colonial governor.

Life

Jardine attended Westminster School and then Trinity College , Cambridge , graduating in 1910 with a bachelor's degree and in 1910 a master's degree .

As a member of the British Colonial Service, he served in Cyprus , Somaliland and Nigeria from 1910 to 1927 . In 1918 he became Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE). In 1921 he was transferred to Tanganyika , where he was initially deputy and from 1928 to 1934 himself chief secretary of the government. During his tenure there he represented Governor Sir Cameron in 1929 and took over his office. In 1932 he was named Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George.

From 1934 to 1937 he was Governor and Commander in Chief of British North Borneo and from May 21, 1937 to July 5, 1941, Governor of Sierra Leone . In 1938 he became Knight Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St. George. In his last political employment he was governor of the Leeward Islands from 1941 to 1943 .
