The Dow Jones Local Media Group (abbreviation: DJLMG, formerly: Ottaway Community Newspapers, Inc. or Ottaway Newspapers, Inc. ) is an American media company based in Middletown , New York State .

The foundation stone for the Dow Jones Local Media Group was laid with the founding of the newspaper Bulletin in Endicott , New York State, by publisher James H. Ottaway in November 1936. From 1944 onwards, James H. Ottaway bought additional newspapers in New York State in order to incorporate them under the newly founded Empire Newspapers-Radio, Inc. in 1946 . In 1969, Dow Jones & Company offered Ottaway Community Newspapers, Inc. 914,038 shares (value: ~ $ 36 million). On July 31, 1970, it merged with Dow Jones & Comp. As part of the merger, the name was changed to Dow Jones Local Media Group.

The Dow Jones Local Media Group now publishes daily newspapers , Sunday newspapers and weekly newspapers in seven American states ( California , Maine , Massachusetts , New Hampshire , New York, Oregon and Pennsylvania ) . The Dow Jones Local Media Group also publishes several websites , magazines and other publications .
