Down III: Over the Under is the third studio album by the US band Down . It was released by Independent Label Group / Warner in September 2007 .

Origin and style

After Down II: A Bustle in Your Hedgerow , it was five years before Down released their next album. The band wrote 18 tracks, 13 of which made it onto the album. Guitarist Kirk Windstein admitted the use of Pro Tools in the later mixing process, after it was first recorded on tape. Nevertheless, the pieces were created in jam sessions and are not a “computerized, polished nu-metal record”. The lyrics covered both Hurricane Katrina and the murder of Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell .

reception

The album peaked at number 26 on the Billboard 200 . Allmusic's Eduardo Rivadavia saw a significant improvement over Down II . The album turns out to be "surprisingly welcome". He awarded 3.5 out of five stars. Whiskey-soda.de sums it up: “The whole thing sounds more organic and sincere than so many over-produced metal and rock records. At Down it still rocks really dirty and the good old blues can be heard. In a direct comparison with the two processes, Over The Under still has to come in behind. Because unfortunately the really big moments that helped Nola and A Bustle in Your Hedgerow to achieve classic status are missing . "
